The recession is easing in this sector of the economy. The phone is ringing more, people are booking discos for the summer - mostly summer weddings.
The big venues that put on Christmas party events are getting in touch to book key December dates. Fees are being squeezed but many are offerng multiple dates.
The past 30-days has seen my disco being enjoyed by small familiy parties, networking associations, wedding receptions and charity balls. The Celebrity Ball at York Racecourse in aid of the Georgina Grace Trust derserves special mention with celebs from York Radio, CBBC and Emerdale being present.
The band was fabulous on the night. They were called "Duvet the ultimate covers band" and are available from Book A Band on 0113 2877227. The food supplied by Gilpin Caterers was outstandly good.
DJ Olive our favourite female DJ fresh from a staring role in pantomome at the Theatre Royal in Brighton has bagged a principle role in a musical playing at the Lowry Theatre in Manchester for five weeks. We are all hoping she will be able to DJ during the summer.
Horse & Hound balls are a key feature of the coming summer's work - there are several booked in - they are always good fun events.
I've developed a "Kissing Game" aimed primarily at the 21st birthday party market. I have not tried it out yet but the ideas are fully formulated.
Next month sees me working in London for Slade Art College graduation ball - 1000 students and lots happening all over the place.
